Semen Analysis Training CD
Description The Semen Analysis Training Tool is an interactive, self-paced CD-ROM which prepares the clinical laboratory scientist to perform standardized comprehensive semen to accurately evaluate male fertility. A review published in ADVANCE for Medical Laboratory Professionals (Volume 11, # 15, July 26, 1999) described the CD-Rom as "...an excellent resource for clinical laboratory professionals...that may be used as a training tool, a mechanism for continuing education, a competency tool or a method of review." Expert Author and Development Teams Authors are reproductive biologists with extensive experience in clinical andrology, including andrology laboratory supervision. Doris J. Baker, Ph.D. HCLD(ABB), MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA) Dr. Baker is trained in reproductive biology, holds credentials in clinical laboratory science and is certified as a clinical laboratory director. As associate professor in the Division of Clinical Laboratory Science at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, Dr. Baker has developed the first formal education program in Reproductive Laboratory Science in the United States. Jeannine Witmyer, Ph.D. Dr. Witmyer is Chief Andrologist and Supervisor of Gamete and Embryo Cryopreservation at Boston IVF, Brookline, MA. As a former supervisor of andrology at Old Dominion University and Eastern Virginia Medical School, Dr. Witmyer was a member of the team responsible for the first birth by in vitro fertilization in the U.S. The Semen Analysis Training Tool was developed at the University of Kentucky. Software was created by an interactive multimedia development team: instructional designers, multimedia programmers, and interactive media specialists.
